Preparing Seed Starting Mix From Scratch This Year
8:2:2 - Spaghum Peat Moss: Vermiculite: Perlite
STRATEGY - Double recipe in large bin, use hot water to mix and moisten, place into containers, lay seeds, top with moistened mix, don't cover, place in 70 degree room, watch moisture level carefully until seeds germinate. Once germination occurs, place containers under light and begin fertilizing once first true leaves appear.
More economical, more control over materials, fun to get "hands dirty".
